Sarah Barker

Hi my name is Sarah,

I’m a professional paint by mouth artist living in Cornwall. When I was 18 months old I had an accident which made me paralysed from the neck down. Ever since my accident and growing up I have believed in inclusivity and also creativity. Over the years I have found creativity to be my outlet when I was feeling down or angry and I believe in the positive impact creativity can have on your mental health. I have also always believed that everyone no matter what your circumstance has the power to create, whether it's an idea, your own dance move, piece of music or artwork, as long as it means something and resonates to you, that's all that matters and if it resonates with others as well then that's a bonus. Youjust need to learn to be your own creator!

When I am not working or creating I love spending time with my husband Rich, our two dogs Marley and Darcey and cat Sunflower. I also love spending time with my family, Walks in the woods, on the beach and exploring new places.

Richard Barker

Hi my name is Rich,

As somebody who has Spina Bifida and Osteoarthritis, I am still a very proud man and up until my diagnosis of Osteoarthritis in 2025 I worked a very physical job and pushed through the pain to provide for my wife Sarah who is also disabled. I also grew up not believing in myself and having no self confidence, I thought I would never get a job. So I found it hard when my condition worsened and I had to give up work. Aside from this I love spending time with my wife Sarah and going for walks with our two dogs Marley and Darcey wherever the path takes us. I also volunteer for Age UK and Newquay Orchard.

When I am not volunteering or running the CIC with my wife I like exploring new places, playing on PS5 and relaxing watching films and tv.

Creative Leads

Holly - Creative Lead

Hi I’m Holly,

I’m a 25 year old Illustration graduate living in Cornwall! I would like to specialise in children’s books in the future so working with Children through Boogie and Brush really gives me insight into future projects! I enjoy being able to give children a safe space in which to create and learn, in which to encourage future little artists!

Shelley - Creative Lead

Hello, I’m Shelley,

I have one daughter called Charlotte and a husband called Alan.

I enjoy going for coastal walks and spending time with my family.

I’m a naturally kind and supportive person who thrives on creating positive environments and experiences for those around me. I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, understood and accepted for who they are.

Michelle - Creative Lead

Hi! My name is Michelle,

I can't paint or sing beautifully but I absolutely love seeing others having a lovely time and creating joyous pieces of art that they can feel happy with and be proud of.

In my spare time I really enjoy walking with my dog in nature, the woods, I love flowers, music and I go to watch a lot of bands!

Aaliyah - Creative Lead

Hi my name is Aaliyah
(pronounced - a layer) and I'm 22!

I'm a local artist new to Cornwall and I enjoy what I do! So much so, I volunteer with young children to partake in art and music. I have a college qualification in childcare, with the belief that I would find myself a job, working in an early years setting.

I have taken a very different route than planned but wouldn't change a thing. I grew up in the foster system and have a large family. Making me very passionate about my volunteer role. I hope to see many of you coming along to our sessions, where every time you see us, we are doing something new and exciting!

Tania - Creative Lead

Hello everyone, My name is Tania.

Art found me at a time when I truly needed it. Whilst struggling with the menopause, creating became my escape, my peace, and ultimately the thing that helped save my sanity. Although I’ve recently started exploring resin art and jewellery, I’ve always been an artist at heart. Inspired by the land, the sea, and the ever-changing sky, I create pieces that reflect emotion, freedom, and connection to the natural world. For me, art is more than something beautiful, it’s healing, self-expression, and rediscovering yourself again.
